Celebrating 19 Years

It seems incredible but I have been in this holistic / wellbeing world now for 19 years this month.  What a journey so far!

Starting with Reflexology, when others on the course were talking about “chakras” and “meridians”, which at the time meant nothing to me and seemed utterly bewildering, to now, when these understandings form the greater part of my work.  From beginning with the “I simply want to be a good reflexologist” mindset then evolving to now working mainly remotely and often internationally with an intuitive combination of my other learnings, the springboard of which was the BodyTalk system, which blew open my understandings on so many levels, then adding the wonderful, heart-centred Quantum-TouchTarot coaching joined the mix a few years ago too and, most recently, Rahanni, a healing modality fit for the times we find ourselves in.  Add to this my continual reading and learning away from the structure of courses, and, well, it is fair to say that I am a continual student, enthusiastically researching, constantly learning.  Interestingly, the more I delve, the simpler things seem to be.

Wrapped up with all of this, of course, are all the extraordinary, beautiful people I have had the incredible opportunity to connect with along the way – teachers, fellow practitioners, networking colleagues and clients.  There are really no words for the gift this has been and continues to be, for which I’m utterly grateful.

What else can I say, except that I notice numbers, and prime numbers are rather wonderful I feel, standing as they do, holding their own space. The Sun is the 19th card in the Tarot’s Major Arcana, which to me represents nurturing, growth, healing and renewal – or, as one source terms it, “triumphant renewal”.  I’ll take that!!

Where Does Your Energy Come From? (You won’t read this in text books)

This is cutting edge science – you won’t read this in text books for many years yet.  I have recently listened to a discussion online hosted by Lynne McTaggart with the Biologist, Bruce Lipton, as one of the other participants. Bruce has informed how so many of us work with Energy Medicine. He’s an extraordinary biologist with the gift for easily explaining the science and it was he who made the discovery that kick started epigenetics.  Below I have transcribed part of the discussion and will leave you to read his words which I certainly don’t need to add to.

BRUCE LIPTON:

“We are the technology – people don’t understand – there’s a term called “biomimicry” – if you look at the technology in the human body, that technology precedes our technology.  In other words, if you could see how cells did something, we could use that technology at this moment.  Everything that we have on the outside, truly came from an understanding of what happens on the inside.  Cells created community. Cells are like miniature people. Every function that you have in your body is already present in virtually every nucleated cell of your body so that means that the functions of the cells and the functions of the human body happen to be pretty much exactly the same.  Our behaviour is to take care of them.  So, whatever our cells need, we have to provide for that.  It is critical to understand this because if you understand the nature of the cellular community and how it works, there’s a technology.

Can you have 50 trillion citizens be in harmony? We have about 8 billion people who are fighting each other every day.  If you look at the human body, there are 50 trillion healthy, happy cells. And they’re in community.  All cells have jobs. They exchange things – there is even a currency.

So let’s look inside the human body and see where our future is.

Why do we think that computer technology is more powerful than our brain? It’s not true at all.  We can’t even duplicate what the brain is so why would I put old fashioned new parts in my head?  I want to bring up something new. It’s based on an observation that was made years ago after the Chernobyl nuclear plant blew up. The place was contaminated, no humans could be in there, no life could be in there, so they made the whole area around Chernobyl an exclusion zone. No humans could go there, too much radioactivity. They wanted to observe what was going on so they had a camera and a little robot that would go through the reactor so people could see what was going on.  The first couple of years nothing was going on. But the third year startled them.  There was black mould growing on the walls of the reactor.  Black mould like you see in the shower or the bathtub. That same mould. The scientists were astounded that something was living in the reactor. How could that be? So science wanted to find out. What was it that the black mould had that allowed it to live in the intense radioactivity?

The answer was Melanin.

Melanin is a pigment that makes them black. Melanin is a crystal.  And what they’ve found out is that Melanin can take electromagnetic energy from the air and turn it into biological fuel. And they were living off the radioactivity because the Melanin would take the radioactive elements and then convert it into biological fuel.  WOW.  But the real WOW is that we have the same pigment in our skin. We always talked about it shielding us from UV light.

It turns out that we under appreciated the role of the Melanin.

The Melanin takes the electromagnetic energy out of the atmosphere and converts it into biological fuel.  We know this in plants. For example, plants take sunlight out of the atmosphere and then convert it into making carbohydrates – fuel.  Humans have Melanin which is like the chlorophyl in plants but is affected more by electromagnetic energies.

So, if Melanin is generating energy, how much of that energy is available for us to use in our day-to-day life?

How did we all grow up? By being told to eat our food and that food gives us our energy. ‘Eat your breakfast, it’ll give you energy for your day ….  Eat this meal and you’re going to build your energy by eating food …’.

The problem is simply this.

That when they did the research (to find out), how much energy is available from just the Melanin part of our body, 85% of the energy needed for a human’s existence comes straight out of the air.   We thought we were getting energy from the food!

The lifespan of a human scientifically should be 150 years.  Obviously we’re not doing very well at that! What’s going on?

Let’s go back to the food. When you burn fuel, there are always toxic byproducts from burning fuel. When you digest food you get energy, just like burning fuel, but you get byproducts that include something called “free radicals”, which are highly charged elements from atoms… This is the waste product. Free radicals punch holes in cells. And when they punch holes in cells, the cells die.  So the more food you eat, the shorter your lifespan.  That’s what we’re just finding out. We’re eating too much. Way too much.  The food is actually killing us.

They started doing laboratory experiments. They compared unending, limitless abundant availability food … with limiting the amount of food and just giving a small amount of food, just a subsistence amount of food.  By doing this (giving just subsistence level of food) they doubled the lifespan of rats, then they did it with birds and dogs and monkeys. And all of them lived exceedingly long when they were given subsistence level of food.

This is amazing. Think of all the benefits of this.  What if you could cut your food bill down to about 10%?  We’re killing the rainforests (to grow more hamburgers) – we don’t need to do that, we need less hamburgers, put the rainforest back, return the environment back to where it was. We’re destroying the environment to supersize us and kill us faster. And the question is, where is the science coming from?  Not from the industrial sector!!  It changes how we live on the planet.”

LYNNE MCTAGGART:

“I think that’s true, Bruce, because the Japanese, part of their culture is as they get older to eat less food, not feel full up, and you see that in a lot of the Blue Zones were people are eating far less and certainly not a lot of ultra processed foods as are produced in the West. That is a fascinating thought that we can be powered. We’re a bit like a zero point field engine. We can be powered out of empty space.

BRUCE LIPTON:

“It just helps us enough to understand that we can help ourselves while saving the planet. Evolution does not make an organism that is so aggressive that it eats up the rest of the world. Evolution, every new organism, should have a lighter touch on the planet because of evolution. Plants take the sunlight. Humans take the electromagnetic field.”

Use Your Power

Even a slight shift in your mood will create enough of an environmental signal to trigger a response from your DNA

You are, I’m sure, familiar with the double helix shape of DNA.  I am about to share some absolutely magic information with you which is so beautifully explained by Richard Rudd in his book The Gene Keys (pp xxiv):

“What most people don’t realise is that as a salt, DNA is a natural conductor of electricity.  It is extremely sensitive to electromagnetic waves.  Even a slight shift in your mood will create enough of an environmental signal to trigger a response from your DNA.  Likewise a negative or positive thought will generate a subtle electromagnetic current throughout your body that will stir your DNA into some form of biological response.  Most of us are completely unaware of how our moods, thoughts, beliefs and general attitude literally mould our bodies.”

This is INCREDIBLE information.

Let’s have a look at a few elements of the above.

  1. Even a slight shift in your mood will create enough of an environmental signal to trigger a response from your DNA.  Knowing this is an absolute gem.  It means that if you are aware of your mood and have the will to shift it, you are able to consciously affect how your genes are expressed, which in turn has the capacity to affect, well, untold aspects of yourself.
  2. A negative or positive thought will generate a subtle electromagnetic current throughout your body that will stir your DNA into some form of biological response.  Biological responses are the result of your DNA receiving this information.  You have the potential to affect your mood, thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, etc, and therefore to affect your body.
  3. Most of us are completely unaware of how our moods, thoughts, beliefs and general attitude literally mould our bodies.  Now that you are aware of this, you have enormous power to bring your whole system into a more aligned state, which will have a fabulous knock-on as to how you experience life.

How do you change your mood from, say, a negative one to a more uplifted state?

Even simply being aware and noticing your state of being as if observing yourself from a distance can be enough to trigger a shift into a more boosted mood.

Here’s one small tip that’s great if you are finding things a struggle.  SMILE.  The fact is that our brains can’t tell the difference between pretending to smile and smiling with true joy.  Smiling (even if it feels like a grimace!) will help to raise your mood, shift your thoughts or attitude, etc, which will in turn affect your whole being.

Spiritual Washdowns

Describing my sessions has been a constant challenge, particularly to those who have zero knowledge of alternative health work – “no, it’s nothing to do with house utilities” I found myself responding to someone the other day when I mentioned that I work with Energy Healing!

While in general I’m not a big fan of labels, occasionally they sure do serve a purpose!

So you can understand why my heart leapt with joy when a client made the following request:

Case Study: Combining Energy Healing with Tarot Reading

This case study clearly shows the benefit of combining an Energy Healing session with a Tarot Reading.

Background (Booking the Energy Healing and Tarot Reading)

A lady contacted me in response to a social media post she’d seen. She booked both an Energy Healing Session and a Tarot Reading. We arranged a two hour appointment, allowing an hour each for the Energy Healing and The Tarot Reading. She completed my completed my online health and wellness form. I always ask new clients to do this so that we don’t waste precious session time when we meet up. Her information indicated physical pain in various areas and several stressful factors too. She also replied to my question about whether there was anything specific she’s like to address with The Tarot. The answer was that she felt stuck in her life generally.

Preparation for the Tarot Reading

Earlier on the day we were due to meet I prepared some information relating to The Tarot. She will be able to use this information for the rest of her life to gain extra insight from any future readings she may have. I also laid out and examined the initial cards we would use in readiness for the Tarot Reading itself.

The Energy Healing Session

We met over video and did the Energy Healing session first. As always, I explained how I do these sessions and what she could expect. I also made it clear that I welcomed any comments from her as we progressed should she have anything she’d like to say. We did the session and at the end she told me that, in contrast to before, she felt calm, tightness in her body had disappeared, and pain in an arm and shoulder had gone.

The Tarot Reading

We then took a short break while she went and got a tea and I reorganised my table. I also brought another screen in to our video meeting so she could see the Tarot cards. We started the reading with me explaining the life information I had prepared for her beforehand, and then we moved on to talk about the cards I laid out earlier.

Doing the Energy Healing session first was so helpful, as it gave an extra depth to the initial information I had seen in the cards I set out before we met up.

Once we had got everything we wanted from those cards, I cleared them away so we could address another specific area of her life. In this instance, she chose all the cards we used – yes, that too is possible remotely! Once we were finished, she commented that there wasn’t a single thing that didn’t resonate. And she also said that what was particularly helpful was having what she had already been thinking about recently reflected back to her by me. She found that reassuring and empowering.

The Result of Combining Energy Healing with Tarot Reading

This case study highlights the benefits a client experienced by combining an Energy Healing Session with a Tarot Reading. She arrived for the session anxious, in pain, conflicted and unsure. Two hours later she left feeling calmer, more relaxed physically and with less pain. She also had a clarity about moving forward with a sense of excitement.

Energy Healing Helps Bedwetting: Case Study

Bedwetting in school age children and even in teens is not uncommon.

While most children grow out of it, some benefit from help. When thinking about how to stop bedwetting, Energy Healing may not be an obvious choice. This case study illustrates why it can be a good idea.

Bedwetting, or nocturnal enuresis, can be very distressing. Commonly it affects the child’s confidence and willingness to go on school trips and sleepovers. That is why a mum recently contacted me about her daughter.

Her daughter is 10 years old. The mother told me that bedwetting was having a huge impact on her self-esteem. She wondered whether energy healing might help.

We agreed that I would do a Remote MINI Session. I made an audio recording as I did the 20 minute session, which I then emailed to the mum. The child was unaware of any of this – the recording was purely for the mother’s information only. This option was also chosen so as to not further burden the daughter.

The day after the Energy Healing session the following arrived in my inbox from the mum about the bedwetting:

“Wow, thanks so much – first dry night in a couple of months last night!
She had a sore throat when she went to school yesterday and you even picked up on that in your session, I am truly amazed.”

This study showes how Energy Healing helped a case of Bedwetting. But actually it is a great illustration of how Energy Healing has the capacity to address endless unique scenarios, and always as appropriate in each individual case.

How To Calm Your Mind Instantly

How can you stop thoughts going round and round your head? How can you step easily from stress and anxiety to calm? How CAN you instantly calm your mind? Easily, as it happens.

There is a great trick to calm your mind that I’d love to share with you. And, the beauty of it is that you can do it anytime, anywhere, in absolutely any situation you find yourself in, so you can quickly escape from the endless whirring of your thoughts.

AND … as well as calming your mind, you will connect immediately with your peaceful centre.

It’s very simple and involves your sense of hearing.

How?

All you need to do is to listen. Focus 100% on what you can hear for a few seconds.

When you do this, your whole attention is diverted. All you are thinking about is what you are noticing through your sense of hearing.

This gives you a break from the thoughts that were dominating only a moment before and you will experience a calm mind.

It’s a rest for you and your mind. And you will feel your body melting into a calmer state and the stress falling away down your body.

So often it’s the little things in life, isn’t it!!

Cut The Chat – Give Yourself A Head Holiday

As I got to the top of the hill on my walk, 20 mins after I had set off, it suddenly dawned on me that I had been so “in my head” the entire way up, mulling and churning all sorts of work stuff, that I had absolutely no recollection of how I got there. I hadn’t noticed one iota of my physical experience.

So I resolved to observe my breath for the remainder of the walk as I set off again down the hill through the woods and out into the evening light along the paths through the fields. I soon set up a regular rhythm, two paces on the in breath, two on the out breath, simply observing my breath and whatever else I noticed in or around me. I became aware of the shrill chirrup of some small bird over to my left, the smell of horse manure, the feel of the air around my body, the fallen branches that seemed to take on different forms – one a creature’s head – can you see it?! Information from my senses that I hadn’t registered at all on the way up.

When my mind started to wander, I’d gently bring it back to observing my breath again. Out now through the kissing gate into the evening sunshine to find the fields which had been full of golden wheat and were harvested a few weeks ago, were now covered in bales of straw, a beautiful sight in the soft light of early evening with the shadows starting to stretch out.

But more than all this external awareness, by focussing on my breath and cutting out the endless stream of chatter clattering around my head, I became aware of myself internally. The physical reverberations through my body each time my feet struck the ground, of my sense of self, my heart space. I became aware of a sense of peace and appreciation for the moment as I stepped through it, while negotiating my way (in shorts) along paths overgrown with brambles and nettles by the way!

I didn’t manage to hold my attention on my breath constantly for the remainder of the walk, (my head is VERY persistent) but each time I realised my mind had wandered I returned to it. It was such a relief to access that sense of space again. Even brief breaks and connection to peaceful moments are so beneficial and wonderful to experience.

You can cut the chat too. You can do it anytime, anywhere. Give yourself a break from your incessant mental whirring – a mini head holiday! Have a play. Give it a go – and please let me know what your experience is. I’d love to hear.

Nature’s Healing Tools – Part Two: Sunlight

There is something about the sun coming out, isn’t there. Suddenly everyone has a smile on their face and a spring in their step and we frequently hear people commenting on how much better they feel when the sun’s out. But have you ever wondered why this is? It’s all to do with Ultraviolet (UV) light – you know, the thing that we are encouraged to stay away from and block ourselves off from.

Well, here are a few facts about UV light that you may not be aware of.

First, a big one. UV light activates a skin hormone called solitrol. Solitrol plays an important part in your immune system and many of your body’s regulatory centres and, together with the pineal gland’s hormone melatonin, causes changes in mood and daily biological rhythms. Another interesting one is that the haemoglobin in your red blood cells needs UV light to bind to the oxygen required for all cellular functions. This is why lack of sunlight is a co-factor for almost any kind of illness. It also explains why lack of sunshine can disrupt normal cell growth.

It has been well understood for many years that ultraviolet light has powerful healing qualities. By 1933 over 165 diseases had been identified for which sunlight was recognised as being a beneficial treatment, for instance tuberculosis. The interesting thing here is that although there were complete cures of tuberculosis, for example, it was observed that patients who wore sunglasses were not cured – more on this later…

And that’s not all. Here are some other considerations. Ultraviolet light:

lowers blood pressure and resting heart rate
improves cardiac output when needed (which is not contradictory to lower resting heart
rate)
reduces cholesterol, if required
balances blood sugar
enhances energy, endurance and muscular strength
improves the body’s resistance to infections
controls a gene that is responsible for producing a powerful broad-spectrum antibiotic
throughout the body
enhances the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood
increases sex hormones
improves the skin’s resistance to infections
raises tolerance to stress and reduces depression

So you see, our amazing bodies were designed to absorb UV light for many good reasons. If we needed total sunscreen, nature would have ensured that we evolved with a natural sunblock to protect our skin and eyes.

Let’s stay on that subject of eyes for a moment. Normally, when the optic nerves in your eyes sense sunlight, this is a signal for your pituitary gland to produce hormones that act as boosters for your melanocytes, (they produce melanin, which is what causes your skin to tan) and your melanocytes start producing melanin in great quantities. But when you wear sunglasses, the optic nerves send completely the opposite messages which lead the pituitary gland to think that you are in the dark, which reduces the production of melanocyte stimulating hormones. The result is that your skin produces less melanin which means you will then be more susceptible to sun damage.

So, while I am absolutely NOT advocating that you take risks, a little time in the sun without sunscreen could do you the world of good, providing you don’t burn of course. And if you could manage without your beautiful fashion accessories on your face, that too would be beneficial and give your amazing body the chance to protect you as it is naturally set up to do.

Nature’s Healing Tools – Part One: Grounding / Earthing

Grounding, or earthing, frequently comes up in my clients’ BodyTalk sessions. When it does, I always start by asking whether they ever walk around barefoot. The responses are more often than not “no”. There is quite often horror at the very idea, not only at going barefoot outside but even at the thought of padding around inside at home.

They are missing a trick.

What is this trick?

It’s a FREE healing tool that we ALL have access to, it’s easy and it’s something that we can all do for ourselves, which I am very much in favour of.

What is it? It’s walking barefoot on the ground. That simple.

We are electrical beings and we often produce excess positive charge which can hang around the body. The ground naturally oozes electrons, which are negative. When we walk barefoot on grass, mud, concrete or sand, this simple action of feet meeting ground neutralises that excess positive charge. And, of course, it’s even better if the ground is slightly damp. You are giving your body the opportunity to get into better balance electrically as the electrons are transferred into the body. Going barefoot therefore results in a shift of the electrical state of the body which in turn helps to restore our natural self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms. This is obviously beneficial.

You know how when you go on holiday you feel better, less stressed, with an improved general sense of wellbeing? We all presume that this is simply due to being away from the daily routine. This is clearly a factor, but possibly more important is that you are walking along the beach, splashing along the shoreline or swimming in the sea, without the usual protection of the non-conductive materials our footwear is so often made of. There are many thousands of people who have tried earthing and their feedback has shown they felt significantly better in many respects, for example less pain and stress, improved sleep and quicker recovery from trauma.

And as I mentioned at the start, these principles can be incorporated into your BodyTalk session, so if you are particularly squeamish about going barefoot, that’s always another option…

I call it my ‘Supermarket Grounding’ technique because I usually remember to do it while I am waiting to pay – in the midst of the busy-ness of shoppers and tills, I treat myself to a moment of “me time”, reconnecting to my core. It give me a few moments of centering and peace. Try it!!
